Bam Bam was an unregistered male we rescued. He had been bottle fed as
a cria and was thought to be aggressive towards humans. We took him in,
gelded him, and never had an ounce of trouble out of him. Once we gained
his trust, he proved to be a loving and respectful alpaca. He loved carrots
and would follow you anywhere to get one. He grew into  one of the best PR
alpacas I have ever seen. Sadly, we lost Bam Bam on Monday, November 2,
2009 to a careless hunter's bullet. He was taken down with one shot from
a high powered rifle that nicked his aorta. There is no hunting of that kind
allowed on any of the property around the farm, so someone must have
been hunting illegally. I believe that due to his color and size, someone
mistook him for a deer and purposefully shot at him. I hope others will
learn from his death. Please be careful if you live in any area surrounded
by woods. He did not deserve to die. A police report was filed, but the
police could not do anything because the people weren't caught in the act.
He will always hold a special place in our hearts. He came to us on his way
to living a life of solitude and became a wonderful part of our herd and
family. He is and forever will be truly missed!
